Yoga, meditation, green tea and scented candles. Is this your interpretation of self-care? If so, we’d like to shake you to your very core and offer you a totally different definition of self-care.
Get this …. self-care is the simple action of taking care of yourself. No scented candles needed.
The thing is, it’s really easy to forget what you personally need in terms of self-care. Part of a journey back from any form of difficulty needs a bit of focus on how you rebalance yourself and how you give yourself back anything that may have become depleted whilst you haven’t been treating yourself properly.

Self care is a mix of big stuff necessary for optimal health - nutrition, exercise, relaxation and sleep, and small stuff that adds depth and breadth to your life - what you read, what you watch, how you get ready to relax and to sleep. If you are so inclined, it can definitely include yoga, meditation, green tea and scented candles. It can also include running a marathon, lifting weights, wild swimming, or tai chi in the park. It’s whatever you need and want it to be.
Everyone benefits from a great self-care routine. For anyone who is working through a big change in their life, such as a shift away from a regular drinking habit, self-care is a crucial part of managing the change and emerging on the other side healthy and happy.
Within our Go-Sober programmes we spend some considerable time thinking about self-care and helping you build a routine that supports your optimal mental and physical health. A great self care routine will add enjoyment to your life, by supporting your brain and body, allowing them to rest and recuperate properly and then work together in tandem to enable you to life you life to the fullest.
