In recovery or recovered?

Anyone who has read a novel, watched a TV series or a film will be familiar with the tortured soul who spends every minute of every day fighting the demons of his or her addiction.  And, very sadly, we do know that in some rare cases this is how life can be after becoming addicted to a substance and then quitting, or trying to quit, that substance.

But, our experiences show us that for most of us, life in the sober lane is not a life spent battling demons, or even a life spent in some kind of recovery.  It’s a life of clear-headed thought, of great sleep and bright eyes.  It’s aging backwards, finding inner peace and of succeeding at whatever you put your mind to.  It's a life of complete freedom.

That feeling of freedom is different for everyone and acknowledging that fact, and then working with you to get you there and keep you there is, we feel, is the difference between “recovered” and “in recovery”.  If you are recovered from something it is in the past and you have left it behind.  If you are “in recovery’ you are actively still somehow engaged with the thing that caused the problem in the first place.  That isn’t a destination that equals freedom to our minds, albeit it might be part of the journey.

At Go-Sober we focus entirely on getting you to your place of freedom, and helping you build a toolkit that keeps you there, effortlessly.

If you’d like to understand more about how we can help you find your sober freedom please do get in touch, we know how to help, and we would genuinely love to do so.
